CEO of BAT Bank Fails to Appear at Police, CWIG Warns Dato Sulaiman: Attend or Face Legal Consequences

Jakarta, Otoritas.co.id — Henry Hosang, Chairman of the Central Board of Cerdas Waspada Investasi Global (DPP CWIG), expressed his appreciation for the professional and responsive actions taken by investigators of Unit 1, Sub-Directorate Kamneg, Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of Polda Metro Jaya in following up on reports of alleged fraud, embezzlement, and indications of Money Laundering (TPPU) related to BAT Bank’s activities.
Victims, together with their legal team, reported Achmad Nur Sulaiman, also known as Dato Sulaiman, to SPKT Polda Metro Jaya under Police Report Number: LP/B/352/I/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, dated 15 January 2026, regarding allegations of fraud and/or embezzlement, as well as potential TPPU in the Platinum Membership scheme valued at USD 1,000,000.
The first summons for Dato Sulaiman as a reported witness was scheduled on 24 February 2026. However, he failed to appear and has not provided any official explanation to the investigators. This conduct gives the impression of disregarding the legal process under the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya.
Henry emphasized that the second summons will provide Dato Sulaiman with the opportunity to act cooperatively. “If he is not guilty, there is no reason to avoid the examination. His attendance will clarify the facts and provide certainty for all parties,” he said.
Regarding public concerns about the potential removal of evidence, possible further losses, or flight risk, Henry stressed that all assessments fall entirely under the investigators’ authority in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). “Should there be objective grounds as provided by criminal procedural law, investigators have the discretion to take necessary legal measures, including detention, to protect the investigation and safeguard the public,” he affirmed.
Henry also highlighted the principle of equality before the law as the foundation of the rule of law in Indonesia, where all parties are equal before the law without exception.
“This is not about exerting pressure on anyone, but about accountability and public trust in the legal system. We appreciate the professional handling by Polda Metro Jaya and hope that the process proceeds transparently and objectively, while delivering justice and legal certainty for the victims,” he concluded.
